Behind the result - No mystery in the method
The diary records a date, chosen nail, free-edge measurement in millimetres and an optional context note. It sorts entries by date. Observed change equals the newest measurement minus the preceding measurement for that same nail; change per day divides that difference by elapsed calendar days. Filing, trimming and measurement error can change the number. It cannot measure biological growth, predict growth or identify a health problem. Same-nail, same-day entries replace the earlier entry after confirmation.
This tool does not diagnose nail conditions, does not fetch live salon prices, and does not store photos or personal details. Blank optional fields are omitted. Text is displayed literally, not interpreted as HTML.
Before you go
What exactly should I measure?
Measure only the visible free edge from the fingertip to the nail tip, using the same method and the same nail each time. Enter millimetres to one decimal place. Do not cut or press on the nail to take a measurement.
Why is the change negative or zero?
A trim, filing, inconsistent measuring or no measurable change can explain the number. The tool cannot distinguish these causes and does not turn them into a health judgement.
Will my diary be here next time?
Only if you opt into saving on this browser and browser storage remains available. Otherwise entries last only while this page is open. Clearing browser data or changing devices removes access. Download a copy before relying on it.
Can I remove entries?
Use Remove beside one row, or Erase diary for all entries and the local saved copy. Turning off saving removes the saved copy while keeping the current on-screen diary.
